About Me

Michael James Cobb: Michael James Cobb was born in the small town of Lincolnville, Montana. He spent his early years working with his father as a hunting guide. In College, he majored in International Studies for which he was awared a BA from Georgetown. Subsequently he enlisted in the army. Finding this sort of work to his liking, he completed Ranger school with distinction and had numerous deployments in various hot spots. During one assignment his colleagues in the Légion étrangère began referring to him as "Marchand" short for "marchand de sable" or "Sandman". A joking reference to the fact the he was the last thing that his adversaries saw. A later deployment in Mogadishu served him in good stead to prepare him for his role as consultant to Ridley Scott for the blockbuster movie Black Hawk Down. The bulk of his assignments remain confidential though he awaits developments with his FOI suit. After leaving the Army, he moved into private security, and now works as a security consultant dividing his time between the Emirates and Reston, Va.
